The "Graphics Award
Of Excellence"
The "Graphics Award Of
Excellence" award program is designated for those web masters who have original art
in the form of the following:
- Scanned images from paintings, sketches, etc.
- Digital renderings from programs such as 3D Studio, Poser,
Maya, Lightwave, Rhino, etc.
- Collage or photograph manipulation.
- Digital/sketch animations.
- Flash animations.
- If your web page in itself is a work of art through the use
of original graphics!
Criteria
- Submitting a page that contains pornography, violence,
racism, sexism, warez (pirate sites), and/or links to these sites will result in immediate
disqualification. However, sites that contain nudity in the form of art is the only
exception.
- All graphical work must fully respect copyright laws. If
graphical models are used in 3D renderings, credit must be given to the modeler or the
site the model was taken from. Plagiarism of graphics or content will result in
disqualification.
- Spam or over advertising sites need not apply.
Nothing more irritating than excessive pop-up banners, link exchanges, overuse of animated
GIFs, etc. Some free web hosting services require banners and this is understood.
- Load times for graphic intensive sites are usually slow.
However, loading must be reasonable and efficient by means of thumbnails, spanning
pages, etc.
- Please do not submit sites with "Under
Construction" signs, broken links, or JavaScript errors.
- Sites must be in English.
- We will only accept sites from the web
site designer(s).
Judging
Sites are judged on the 50 point rating system with the below
categories:
- Pictures/Graphics/Animations - 20 Points (Visual impact of your
artwork)
- Emotional Impact - 10 Points (Did your artwork make us feel sad,
inspired, happy, discouraged, etc.?)
- Originality - 10 Points (Does your artwork have a uniqueness
quality?)
- Navigation - 5 Points (Does your site flow smoothly with minimal
usage of the "Back" button?)
- Theme - 5 Points (Other than "My Artwork", do you have an
underlying theme like: still life, cartoon characters, science fiction, etc.?)
Awards are presented to the following scores:
- 45-50 Points - Golden Graphics Award of Excellence
- 35-44 Points - Silver Graphics Award of Excellence
- 25-34 Points - Bronze Graphics Award of Excellence
All decisions are final and we will only contact
the winners with their award in JPG format as well as the scores they earned.
